With three RN candidates elected on the 1stis round of the legislative elections, and a qualification for the second round in all the other constituencies of Lorraine, the extreme right is in a strong position at the regional level – as at the national level – following the vote this Sunday, June 30.

In detail, the results by municipality suggest other notable facts… Which slightly enhance the results of the RN’s rivals.

To the west, the RN tidal wave

So this is the first, relentless trend. It was predictable, because the National Rally had already done well there in 2022: the west of Lorraine is more navy blue than ever.

Florence Goulet (2nd constituency of Meuse) was re-elected in the first round. Maxime Amblard (47.95% in the 1st constituency of Meuse) and Dominique Bilde (47.30% in the 4th constituency of Vosges) almost imitated her, while they were opposed to the incumbents Thibault Bazin (LR, 33.21%) and Bertrand Pancher (DVD, 34.22%) who will have to hope for a massive transfer of votes from the left to win.

The right is still floating in a few historic strongholds

In the Vosges, the outgoing Stéphane Viry (DVD) and Christophe Naegelen (DVD) for example keep the upper hand over the RN in the 1st and 3rde constituency. Quite supported in the Sarrebourg sector, Fabien Di Filippo (LR) keeps his chances of being re-elected for a new mandate even if he is currently ahead of Océane Simon (RN) by 7 points in the 4e Moselle constituency. The presidential majority is struggling, even if it achieves some good scores in the sectors of Saint-dié-des-Vosges with David Valence, Thionville with Isabelle Rauch and the Metz agglomeration with Ludovic Mendès. They will be in the second round but are for the moment distanced by the RN

The left shines in Nancy and Metz

And the left? It is doing well in the Nancy-Toul sector, where Estelle Mercier (37.73% in the 1st constituency of Meurthe-et-Moselle), Stéphane Hablot (39.91% in the 2nd) and Dominique Potier (43.47% in the 5th) are quite clearly in the lead.

If the left also comes out on top in Metz, the candidates of the New Popular Front from the 1st to the 3rd constituency of Moselle have already withdrawn in favor of the right and the center… And above all to block the National Rally.

For Europeans, even more navy blue

In the European elections last month, the far-right’s plebiscite was even more visible.

The RN list led by Jordan Bardella had been placed in the lead in almost all the communes of Lorraine, including Metz, Bar-le-Duc, Épinal, Remiremont… Nancy, where the PS – Place Publique list had finished in front, was almost an exception.

The low number of Lorraine candidates during the European elections – Laurent Hénart, Nathalie Colin-Oesterlé, and Nadine Morano could hope to be elected, only the latter was – can explain this more one-sided vote than this Sunday June 30 in the first round of the Legislatures.
