At the end of the first round of the legislative elections scheduled for this Sunday, June 30, Jonathan Géry (RN) comes first in the 8th constituency of the Rhône and is ahead of Anne Reymbaut (New Popular Front), Dominique Despras (Together for the Republic) and finally the outgoing MP, Nathalie Serre (LR).

Around fifteen activists of the outgoing MP for the 8th constituency of the Rhône, Nathalie Serre (LR), were present in the hall of the Montagny district in Tarare to learn the verdict of this first round of the legislative elections, on television.

These supporters thus witnessed the arrival of the RN at the top at the national level, ahead of the New Popular Front, then the presidential camp and finally Les Républicains. As soon as the results were announced, some of them, telephone in hand, tried to find out the first trends that were emerging at the local level.

Gradually, Nathalie Serre’s support was more numerous outside and in this room on Place George-Antoine Simonet, notably with the presence of elected officials from the Rhône Department, the Western Rhône Urban Community ( COR) and the City of Tarare.

Very quickly, the National Rally took the lead with 33.5% of the vote, but the battle between Anne Reymbaut of the New Popular Front, Dominique Despras of Ensemble pour la République and Nathalie Serre of the Republicans was still raging.

The Dardilly vote would have tipped the balance

While the representative of the Union of the Left would ultimately come in second position with 22.8% of the votes, the result of the vote in Dardilly would have decided the ranking of the two finalist candidates for the 2022 legislative elections. Dominique Despras would thus be ahead of a very short lead for the outgoing MP (21.2% of the votes against 20.7%).

His substitute, Patrice Verchère, was the first to appear in the hall in the Montagny district, before leaving to return with Nathalie Serre, widely applauded by the activists on her arrival.

“Emmanuel Macron wanted chaos and tonight, he got it. We will see what will happen at the national level. Before this election, I was not confident, but I am calm for the future.”

The Republican representative in the 8th constituency of Rhône also clarified that she did not want to make an announcement before having the final, or at least consolidated, results. The question of a triangular or the presence of the four candidates in the second round therefore remains unresolved.

For his part, the candidate of the National Rally, Jonathan Géry, is delighted with the first place obtained at the end of this first round “with almost 11 points ahead of the second (Anne Reymbaut of the New Popular Front, Editor’s note) and at the end of a good campaign”. Riding on this good result and this good dynamic, he approaches the second round with confidence.

“The result of the second round will be exactly the same as the first if there are four candidates.”

And according to him, the fourth place of the outgoing MP, Nathalie Serre, is a reflection of a legitimate dissatisfaction of the population with regard to her policy. “What did she do in the National Assembly? Not much”, supports Jonathan Géry, estimating that the representative of the Republicans and Dominique Despras, candidate for Ensemble pour la République, represent the macronie.
