===========

Anne Arbus learned the trade of weaver at theAubusson National School of Decorative Art in the 90s. Years later, she completed her training by completing a master's degree in drawing at the Beaux-Arts in . This dual training allows him to be both a painter and a weaver, a logical dual activity that has proven itself throughout history: Since the dawn of time, the painter-carton maker and the weaver have worked hand in hand to create tapestries and rugs.explains the artist. By choosing to be a painter-cardboard maker and weaver, I achieve this alchemy where the first designs the design so that it is woven, and the second weaves it, on a high or low-smooth loom, giving the design textures, materials and bodies.
This timeless and perennial alchemy in all countries taught me that slowness is not a fault, that solitude is not isolation and that silence is fruitful.”.

Today, the artist has evolved this classic conception of the link between the painter and the weaver.
– First, for practical reasons, she made a simple change: “Although I learned the trade of weaver on a low-height loom (horizontal loom), I chose to work on a high-height loom. smooth (vertical), in order to optimize the ergonomics of the tool while reducing its space on the ground.
The chain is made of cotton or linen cable (4 threads per cm), the cardboard is attached to the back of the chain, and the materials of plant, animal or silk origin are scrupulously chosen to amplify the colors and give all its nobility to the texture of the tapestry.
– Then, the link between painting and tapestry is no longer the same:
For a long time, the artist remained in the classical approach, believing that her paintings were only a first step and that the outcome was necessarily a tapestry.
Since her meeting with the calligraph artist Hassan Massoudy, she has changed her perspective: “This artist made me appreciate the outcome of the painting itself. From now on, I design paintings in the same vein as my tapestry cartoons, dealing with subjects that are close to my heart and to which I am committed”.
Painting is therefore no longer a first draft before tapestry, but the link is nevertheless clear between the two techniques and gives coherence to the general approach: the artist creates his paintings by placing inks or ochres on canvas or papyrus. : “This choice of papyrus support and inks is linked to weaving for papyrus and writing for inks.”.

Today, the artist focuses on themes, which she breaks down into series, but each series is treated by three different mediums: tapestry, painting and poetry. This is for example the case for “Nature Size”, “Mediterranean Doors”, “Feminine Plurielles”.
“Following on to “Grandeur Nature” started in 2010, I started a new series, “Traits d’Union”, in 2014. This is the evocation of everything that links us, connects us and separates us, making each moment, each thing, each encounter, each life, an ephemeral gift. What binds us, separates us? »

The choice of themes and the diversity of techniques allow the artist both to explore the thematic approach but also to increase exchanges with the public, which is also fundamental for this artist.
