An unusual scene in Belgian D2 this weekend during the match between Zulte Waregem and Seraing (5-1, final score). Upon returning from the locker room, the referee experienced a brief moment of solitude as he no longer remembered which team was responsible for the kick-off.

For long seconds, Laurent Willems frankly hesitated while the Zulte Waregem players were ready to kick off. A delay somewhat maintained by the Seraing players who positioned themselves in the central circle, waiting for the confirmation whistle. “An absolutely crazy scene, it’s Belgian-style surrealism that takes over,” the DAZN commentator laughed.
If tempers heated up nicely, between several of the two teams, the captain of Seraing came to the aid of the “man in black” by telling him that it was indeed his team which had engaged first during the first period .
