The draw has been made for the 2025 PDC World Darts championships with Irish duo Willie O’Connor and Dylan Slevin pitted against each other in the first round.

Cappamore’s O’Connor against Borrisokane’s Slevin, it’s like a Munster club hurling quarter final.

The World Darts Championships takes place over the festive period in the Alexandra Palace, beginning with the first round on Sunday December 15.

Willie O’Connor, Keane Barry and Dylan Slevin are among the Irish in action, with Mickey Mansell, Josh Rock and Brendan Dolan also in the mix.

Luke Humphries is the defending champ having defeated teen sensation Luke Littler in last year’s final. The pair renewed acquaintances on Sunday night with Humphries coming out on top once more, winning 11-7 in the Players Championship final.

Littler could potentially face Fallon Sherrock in the second round, if she beats her opponent Ryan Meikle in their first round clash. Meanwhile, Humphries is taking on the winner of Thibault Tricole/Joe Comito in Round Two.

The top 32 ranked players on the PDC Order of Merit join the competition in the second round with the first round between the order of merit qualifiers and international qualifiers.

Darts will take over our screens on Sky Sports right up until Christmas, when there will be a two-day-break until St Stephen’s day, with the final going ahead on January 3.

Ireland’s Dylan Slevin took one of the last four qualifying spots in Wigan on Monday afternoon, retaining his tour card for 2025 and booking a spot in the championships for the second year in a row.
