L’Idéal, a new epicurean temple in Villeneuve-sur-Lot

“This company was conceived by five of us, with my parents, my brother and my sister. We are very epicurean, bon vivants, and we have always loved getting together around the table,” Laura Desplat tells us. Originally from Casseneuil, the Desplat family decided to embark on this adventure together. “We had the idea of setting up a business that would bring together everything that you find on the table: fresh products, spreads, wines, kitchen accessories and table linen. In short, the art of the table in general.” In this den for epicureans, you can discover a wide range of cutlery, crockery, glassware and even small lamps. And, in detail, to accompany these tableware, the delicatessen offers sweet and savory products: jams, fruit jellies, condiments, wines (as mentioned previously) and some champagne references. Please note that these products are also available in boxes on site.

Laura, with ten years of experience in commerce, particularly in the cosmetics field in Agen, left her job at the end of March to devote herself fully to this project which was close to her heart. “I did all the necessary training to open the business, and my family had anticipated by obtaining the premises last September,” she adds.

A complete and user-friendly offer

L’Idéal is much more than just a bright delicatessen covering 80 m2, it is also a unique experience for its customers. “We also offer tastings in front of the store on Thursday and Friday evenings. We make tasting boards of charcuterie and cheese, all accompanied by wines and beers,” Laura specifies. “Customers can choose in store what they want to try. We have the friendly, sharing and intimate side that we wanted in this setting.”

In addition to on-site tastings, L’Idéal offers takeaway platters, allowing everyone to enjoy quality products at home. For the delicatessen, the Desplat family has chosen to source from SMEs located in the South-East, while the fresh products come mainly from the South-West, with particular attention to local producers. “For charcuterie, we decided to focus on French, Iberian and Italian know-how to have a wide range to offer”.

A prime location

Located on a thoroughfare through the centre of La Bastide, L’Idéal benefits from visibility that is just as interesting as the name of the boutique suggests. “The interior decoration also knows how to attract the most curious eyes from outside the building,” says Laura. The public is not mistaken: the feedback is already very positive. “Customers are happy to find an offer like ours here. We combine know-how and good know-how,” concludes Laura Desplat with satisfaction.
