The farmers of the Rural Coordination (CR) had announced that they wanted to toughen up their movement at the end of November, they are taking action. While the mobilization of farmers continues throughout France, to protest in particular against Mercosur and demand a decent income, the CR des Savoie announces on Facebook an action to block two purchasing centers in Albanian this Monday, November 25 from 9:30 a.m. The union wants to block access to the purchasing centers of Alby-sur-Chéran (CSD, 35 route d'Héry) and Rumilly (cooperative U, 38 avenue de l'Arcalod).
“We are calling for a better distribution of the margin on our products”
“There are several dozen farmers from the two Savoies with a few tractors, to prevent trucks from entering and leaving,” warns Christian Convers, the national general secretary of Rural Coordination, and breeder at Cernex. Impossible to know if they will stay long or not. “We’ll see if we get dislodged or not” reacts the farmer. The goal for them is to put pressure on the government, even if it means creating shortages in the supermarkets supplied by these purchasing centers. “We don’t want to block anyone in time, but we are calling for a better distribution of margins between the moment when the product is purchased from farmers and when it is sold to the consumer.”
To obtain the end of the movement, no choice according to Christian Convers, “signatures are required”. He denounces “ads that are no longer enough” from the government of Michel Barnierboth on the free trade agreement between the European Union and Mercosur and on the measures to improve the purchasing power of farmers promised last January.
For its part, the FNSEA announces new actions “Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday”.
