The international day against violence against women has existed since November 25, 1999. This fight today wears an emblematic color: , since the “Orange the world” campaign, launched in 2008 by the United Nations. In support of the “Oranger la Guadeloupe” operation, at the initiative of the Soroptimist Clubs, the ACTe Memorial lights up in orange for 15 days.

Everywhere, the same slogan, all united to put an end to violence against women. Many events are organized each year for this international day of November 25. This year, at the initiative of the Soroptimist clubs, a unique operation will consist of “orange Guadeloupe”. The emblematic building of the ACTe Memorial, located in Pointe-à-Pitre, was lit up in orange for the occasion. And this for 15 days. the idea was born from the campaign launched in 2008 by the United Nations, “orange the world”.

It is important for MACTe to do so. The institution must be able to shine through the actions it carries out towards the population who must be challenged on noble causes. Last month we lit up the MACTe in pink for the fight against breast cancer, this time it is in orange for the fight against violence against women.

Each year, the UNITE campaign focuses on a specific theme in support of campaign for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a global civil society-led event that kicks off on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and ends on December 10, which marks Human Rights Day.

From November 25 to December 10 each year, the UNITE campaign calls on everyone to wear orange and take action to end violence against women and girls in communities, homes, public places, schools and workplaces, during conflicts and in times of peace.
