the essential
Happy tables, lanterns, a little music, that’s the successful formula of the summer!

Less formal than the classic restaurant, more nourishing than the afterwork and accessible to all budgets and diets, the guinguette appeals to a large, young and urban audience. A few lanterns in a pretty shaded setting by the water, and simple, tasty and healthy dishes are enough to satisfy many cravings.

This is what makes the success of the Pêcheurs de sable, at the port of Daurade, a gourmet and family snack bar (children’s games next door). Counter service, every day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The Garonne also displays all its panoramic charm at La Turbine du Bazacle. Cocktails and treats to share on the terrace of the EDF Bazacle space, from noon to midnight (turbine-bazacle.fr).

Almost opposite, Racines, the tavern of Port Viguerie, is back at the foot of the Ferris wheel (racines-guinguette.fr).

The view is just as magical – especially with a sunset setting the pink brick ablaze! – from the A M’en Donné refreshment bar, in the Raymond VI garden. Shade and greenery around La Centrale planted on the Ramier Island. In the evening, from Tuesday to Saturday, it’s mainly tapas, and on Sunday, it’s a varied brunch at will, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Entertainment (grill evening, tropical, etc.) announced on Facebook (lacentrale).

Still on the water’s edge, but that of the Bassin des Filtres, a somewhat secret green oasis, Le Gros Arbre offers bistro and country cuisine in this timeless place (110 rue des Amidonniers – 07 65 87 29 34).

It’s water again, but this time from the Canal du Midi, which passes in front of Museau Musette, a former lock-keeper’s house a stone’s throw from the Matabiau train station. Bistro cuisine every evening, from Tuesday to Saturday, and at lunchtime from Monday to Friday (closed Sunday. museaumusette.fr).

La Voile blanche is located on the banks of Lake Sesquières: cocktail bar, restaurant or tapas to share, Sunday brunch, club in the evening, entertainment, concerts, DJ sets (lavoile-blanche.fr).
