In connection with Storm Bert which is crossing the British Isles, violent winds are expected to continue to sweep several regions of France during the night from this Sunday to Monday November 25. Six departments are placed on orange vigilance, from midnight.
The violent winds linked to depression “Bert” will continue to blow strongly this Sunday evening and Monday November 25, particularly affecting the southwest and the center-east of France, Météo France relays.
After a weekend marked by intense squalls, particularly in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques where gusts of up to 186 km/h were recorded in Iraty, the situation remains worrying.
According to Météo-France, conditions will worsen overnight from Sunday to Monday, with maximum intensity expected at dawn.
The six departments affected by the orange alert, namely the Saône-et-Loirethe Allier, the Puy-de-Dômethe Loirethe Haute-Loire and the Rhôneshould record peaks reaching 100 to 120 km/h.
These strong gusts may also affect neighboring departments and in particular part of Cantal, northern Isère and western Ain, Météo France specifies in its latest bulletin.
The orange alert will be in effect this Monday, November 25 from midnight to 4 p.m.
Lull expected Monday afternoon
These violent winds will also affect the Gier valley and Lyonnais, before gradually easing.
Calm is expected Monday afternoon, first in the Pyrenees, then in the Massif Central, and finally in the Lyonnais and Saône-et-Loire sectors.
However, gusts are likely to have significant consequences: power and telephone outages, falling branches or objects, as well as disruptions to road transport, particularly on the secondary network and in wooded areas.
