Lotto Max: the jackpot equals the record of $80 million

Friday's drawing is looking for a winner for a $75 million prize pool, but the top prize had still not been claimed as of Saturday, pushing up the jackpot.

The jackpot has only reached $80 million once, breaking a record in September. Before that, the price was $75 million, which was also a record at the time.

The Lotto Max winnings cap was raised at the start of the year, allowing jackpots to exceed $70 million. The cap is currently $80 million.

Although a higher prize may entice more people to play, the odds of winning the lottery remain incredibly low.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation estimates the odds to be about one in 33,294,800 per $5 ticket.

Although there was no jackpot winner in Friday's drawing, someone matched six of the seven winning numbers, plus a bonus, to win a prize worth of more than $320,000.

The winning numbers are 4, 6, 9, 21, 40, 42, 43 and a bonus number of 24.
