POLITICS – They saved their skin in the first round. Nothing more to fear for them next Sunday. While many candidates are preparing to go back to campaigning and hold their breath for a few more days, some are already assured of regaining their seat in the Assembly. There would be around 70 of them, according to initial projections.

On the far right, there are many in this case. Starting with Marine Le Pen. The former RN candidate for the presidential election announced, at 8:10 p.m., that she had been reappointed for a new term. In a lightning speech delivered in front of a crowd of supporters, she thanked the voters of Pas-de-Calais for giving her “the honor of [l]’elect this evening’.

In the Somme, a few kilometers away, the former RN vice-president of the Assembly Sebastien Chenu also revealed that he was re-elected. Just like Julien Odoul in Yonne, Edwige Diaz in Gironde, Emmanuel Blairy et Marine Cousin in Pas-de-Calais, Nicolas Meizonnet in Gard. In Var, the far-right party announced that the 4 outgoing deputies were also re-elected in the first round, including Laura Lavalette.

On the left, the First Secretary of the PS Olivier Faure will also be able to regain his seat in the Assembly. From the first round, the voters of Seine-et-Marne gave him their confidence. The same goes for Mathilde Panot (LFI) in Val-de-Marne, Clemence Guette in Val-de-Marne, Manuel Bompard et Sebastien Delogu (LFI) in Bouches-du-Rhône, Bastien Lachaud (LFI) in Seine-Saint-Denis, Ugo Bernalice (LFI) in the North, Marie-Charlotte Garin (The Ecologists) in Isère, Pouria Amirshahi in Paris, Martine Froger (PS) in Ariège.
