Will the seat of the outgoing Loiret MP Richard Ramos be saved by the withdrawal of the socialist candidate?

If the National Rally candidate, Anthony Zeller, comes first in the sixth constituency (with 31.81% of the votes), he is closely followed by the outgoing deputy Richard Ramos (30.60%), towards whom the votes of the socialist candidate (New Popular Front) should inevitably be postponed to the second round, Christophe Lavialle withdrawing to block the far right.

The first trend, at 8 p.m., placed Anthony Zeller well ahead in the sixth district. The National Rally candidate then received 40.18% of the votes. A lead which will have melted over the course of the evening, as we progressed in the counting of the ballots coming out of the polls in the city of Orléans.

Behind, it came back very strongly… But not enough, since the final results, which came in around 10:30 p.m., finally left him in front. By a (very) short head, with 31.81% of the votes… Against 30.60% for the outgoing deputy (MoDem/Ensemble) Richard Ramos, and 29.70% for the departmental secretary of the Socialist Party and Abraysian deputy, Christophe Lavialle (New Popular Front).

Lavialle breaks the triangle

The ingredients of a triangular, which will not take place… “It came down to nothing, a few hundred votes…”, Christophe Lavialle could only admit
late in the evening. Before announcing to The Republic that he was withdrawing from the race for deputy:

“I have always said that in the case of triangular,
If I came third, I would withdraw in favor of the candidate of the Republican arc, in this case, this evening, Mr. Ramos.”

Christophe Lavialle

A decision, continues the socialist, “totally independent of the declaration
by Jean-Luc Mélenchon” earlier in the evening, urging his troops to act in this way, to block the RN. “I have been driven since I was very young by the desire to fight against the far right. I don’t need instructions at my age to know what position to adopt.”

“I do a lot of Bardella’s hair”: Orléans hair salons face the liberated voice of their customers

“Personally, if I had been third, I would have stayed.”

Lavialle offside, the vote carryover (he concentrated 15,176 on his name) should inevitably be towards the outgoing MoDem deputy, Richard Ramos, who came in second. His chances of keeping his seat in the Assembly now appear more than significant…

When we collected Anthony Zeller’s reaction at the prefecture, once the final results had been announced, his socialist opponent had not yet made his withdrawal official: “Aware of the task that awaits me between the two rounds to convince the abstainers, I take this result with great humility…”

The RN candidate felt it coming as soon as he could: “I would find it a shame if Lavialle withdrew, it would be a betrayal of his voters… Personally, I would have stayed in third place.”

But Anthony Zeller only came first…
