Key figures to better understand this first round of legislative elections in Cantal

Key figures to better understand this first round of legislative elections in Cantal

Which is the most civic-minded municipality in Cantal? Why didn’t the voters of Valette go to vote? What are the records of each of the candidates in the two constituencies?

Bad student. Record abstention for the small town of Valette, whose mayor, Valérie Cabecas, is also a departmental councillor. Voters did not turn out, since abstention reached 44.1%.

To the left. Three municipalities in the second constituency put the New Popular Front candidate in the lead: Zoé Pébay obtained 29.98% in Champs-sur-Tarentaine-Marshal ahead of Gilles Lacroix (Rn) at 24.44%. In Fau, where she arrives with 30.30% ahead of Louis Toty (Various right) at 21.21%. And in Veyrières, she obtained 33.33% ahead of Gilles Lacroix at 29.03%.

The three pass. In Valjouze, the smallest commune in the department, the votes of the 25 voters (34 registered) went to only three candidates: Jean-Yves Bony (16 votes, 64%), Gilles Lacroix (5 votes, 20) and Zoé Pébay (4 votes, 16%). And the participation is close to the Cantal record with 73.53%.

Tied. In several municipalities, two candidates are tied. In Védrines-Saint-Loup, Gilles Lacroix and Jean-Yves Bony obtained 33.33% of the votes each (31 votes). In Virargues, 35 votes for each: which gives 35.35% to Jean-Yves Bony and Gilles Lacroix. On the first constituency side, Rouziers had difficulty deciding and proposed two ties in the lead (Vincent Descoeur and Valérie Rueda at 33.33%) followed by two other tied candidates, Dorothée Gallais and Denis Sabot (16% each). At Ségalassière, Vicent Descoeur and Valérie Rueda are tied for the lead at 36.78%. Velzic offers a two-headed Vincent Descoeur and Dorothée Gallais at 30.71%.

The participation record

The small town of Vieillevie, on the banks of the Lot in the south of the department, holds the record for participation in this first round, with a rate of 86.05%. With 74 voters out of 86 voters, it is therefore the most civic-minded municipality in Cantal.

On your mind. Maurines, 86 voters, placed Gilles Lacroix in the lead with 63.64%. His highest score. For Jean-Yves Bony, it is in Soulages that his highest score is reached: 68.85%. Louis Toty also comes in first place in Trizac, the town of which he is mayor, with 40.62%. But it is Gilles Lacroix who comes in second (with 25.23% ahead of the outgoing MP, Jean-Yves Bony at 19.69%. The outgoing MPs record their highest scores, sometimes where we did not necessarily expect it. Vincent Descoeur peaks at 64.17% in Junhac, against 60.98% in Montsalvy, his favorite town. Which town is also that of Dorothée Gallais who comes in second position, is content with 19.72%.

A look back at the figures from the first round of the 2022 legislative elections

In progress. For her second participation, Dorothée Gallais (National Rally) offers several municipalities in the first constituency of the outgoing deputy with a score reaching 51.30% in Rouffiac. Vincent Descoeur obtains 31.30%.
