A rave party in Orne illegally brings together 200 people in the Bourse forest

The order taken by the Orne prefecture prohibiting “ festive gatherings of an unauthorized musical nature” from November 22 to 25, 2024 and the resulting reminders of the law were not enough.

200 partygoers and music in the heart of the forest

In the night from Saturday 23 to Sunday 24 November 2024around 200 people participated in an illegal rave party in Bourse national forestin the commune of Ventes-de-Bourse, near Essay (Orne).

The event started in the middle of the night and in the heart of the forest.

The Gendarmeriewho received numerous calls denouncing this nighttime noise, went to the scene during the night.

This Sunday, at 11 a.m., almost 100 party-goers were still there.

Complaints for nighttime noise

The gendarmes have set up their command post in the town hall of Stock Market Sales in order to coordinate the operation.

Several participants were verbalized. “At least forty this morning,” reports Christophe de Balorre, the president of the Orne Departmental Council, who also visited the site in the morning.

For now,three complaints were filed for nighttime noise, in particular by the mayor of Ventes-de-Bourse Raymond Herbreteau, and by the deputy mayor of Essay.

“Such rampage is staggering”

“It’s pitiful,” denounces Christophe de Balorre, also president of the Vallée de la Haute Sarthe community of communes, to which the commune of Ventes-de-Bourse depends.

What amazes me is that they do this in the middle of the forest, with a monstrous noise which has consequences on the fauna and flora when we talk about the environment every day…

“Such a rampage is staggering,” annoys the president of the Department.

The party-goers would have gone to the heart of the forest using a National Forestry Office (ONF) path closed to the public. “I also invite the director of the ONF to also file a complaint,” indicates Christophe de Balorre.

Rave parties not so frequent in Orne

If alerts are frequent in Orne, the organization of rave parties is ultimately “quite rare in the department”, specifies the Orne elected official.

They are more frequent in the Ornais bocage, to the west of the department, and rarely bring together more than 250 people.

“The last large-scale rave party was around 15 years ago, and it was already in the Bourse forest,” recalls Christophe de Balorre. “The one last night was much smaller. »
