2024 LEGISLATIVE ELECTIONS. Who are the candidates and parties in the second round in Deux-Sèvres?

Following the first round of the 2024 legislative elections, several candidates are in the running to obtain a seat in the National Assembly. In the three constituencies of Deux-Sèvres, seven candidates are still in the running.

Will the National Rally obtain an absolute majority? Will the New Popular Front succeed in overtaking Marine Le Pen’s party in terms of the number of seats? Is cohabitation inevitable? All these questions will be answered on July 7, at the end of the second round of these early legislative elections.

In the first round of these elections, the turnout in Deux-Sèvres was 69.40%. This is a record since 2002 (68.02%).

Find out who the candidates are in your constituency in the Deux-Sèvres department for the second round of these legislative elections.

1st constituency: a three-way race for the second round

Champdeniers-Saint-Denis, Coulonges-sur-l’Autize, Mazières-en-Gâtine, Niort East, Niort North, Niort West, Prahecq, Secondigny

Bastien Marchive, Various Centre Right (with 40.23% of votes cast in the 1st round)
Outgoing MP Bastien Marchive, who declares himself as “free and independent candidate“, and no longer under the Macronist label as during the legislative elections in 2022, finished first in this election. The support of the mayor of the city of Niort, Jérôme Baloge, represents a major asset.

Nathalie Lanzi, PS – New Popular Front (with 32.80% of votes cast in the first round)
A teacher at the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry college in Niort and a regional councillor, Nathalie Lanzi believes she is the only alternative to the National Rally. A candidate for the first time in the legislative elections, she obtained more than 20,500 votes in this first round.

Dorothée Champeau, National Rally (with 24.63% of votes cast in the first round)
Continue the momentum of voters since the European elections with Jordan Bardella. This is the watchword that Dorothée Champeau has given herself, who wants to play the party pooper in this Niort constituency. With more than 15 points behind Bastien Marchive, the fight is set to be tough to obtain this place as deputy.

2nd constituency: Batho in a favorable ballot

Beauvoir-sur-Niort, Brioux-sur-Boutonne, Celles-sur-Belle, Chef-Boutonne, Frontenay-Rohan-Rohan, Lezay, Mauze-sur-le-Mignon, La Mothe-Saint-Héray, Melle, Ménigoute, Parthenay, Saint-Maixent-l’École, Sauze-Vaussais, Thénezay

Delphine People, Generation Ecology – New Popular Front (with 38.60% of the votes cast in the 1st round)
A major local political figure, outgoing Green MP Delphine Batho finished in first place in this election. Recovering the votes of the defeated candidate, Frédéric Bizard (MoDem), would allow her to regain her seat in the National Assembly. Delphine Batho has been a member of parliament in this constituency since 2007.

Melody Garault, National Rally (with 34.12% of votes cast in the first round)

Unknown to the general public, the National Rally candidate achieved a historic score, obtaining 34.12% of the votes cast. A 32-year-old medical assistant, she wants, according to her, to take the place of a member of parliament who has been sitting in the chamber for far too long.

3rd constituency: Fiévet in turmoil

Airvault, Argenton-Chateau, Bressuire, Cerizay, Mauléon, Moncoutant-sur-Sèvre, Saint-Loup-Lamaire, Saint-Varent, Thouars

Philippe Robin, Ciotti group – National Rally (with 35.27% of the votes cast in the first round)
The dual label (LR-RN) of candidate Philippe Robin won over voters during this first round. Despite his invitation to resign from the Bressuire municipal council and the withdrawal of his delegation for tourism in the Bressuire conurbation, he could obtain the title of deputy in the third constituency of Deux-Sèvres.

Jean-Marie Fievet, Together (with 31.12% of votes cast in the first round)
The outgoing MP Jean-Marie Fiévet was defeated in this first round by the candidate from Ciott, Philippe Robin. A professional firefighter, he hopes to extinguish the flame of the National Rally by collecting the ballot papers of the voters who chose Juliette Woillez (LFI – New Popular Front) and Mattieu Manceau (Les Républicains), defeated in the first round.
