The Caen remand center moved to Ifs more than six months ago. Almost doubling its reception capacity. At the ANVP (National Association of Visitors to Persons Under the Custody of Justice, previously called Prison Visitors), “We therefore want to continue recruiting volunteers”, underlines Didier Bazin, interregional delegate. Especially since there are also needs at the Caen penitentiary center, in the Maladrerie district.
In 2025, interventions with minors
The association is looking for “men or women”to meet prisoners of all sexes, with a new feature in 2025: “We will soon intervene with the minors.”
Each volunteer receives specific training before starting. His role ? Often the same half-day each week, the visitor follows two or three people, for about an hour each, and discusses all subjects.
Another recent mission: exchanges with people said to be “under the control of justice” (recently released from prison or wearing an electronic bracelet, for example).
