A sad spectacle on the Isle of Beauty. The match between Bastia and Lorient, counting for the 14th day of Ligue 2, was interrupted in the 37th minute after projectiles were thrown in the direction of one of the touchline referees.
The meeting security committee decided to restart the game at 9:15 p.m., causing a 32-minute interruption. The meeting initially started at 8 p.m.
“The safety of the players – my referee team as well as all the players – will be very important throughout the rest of the matchhad warned the referee of the match Willy Delajod in an improvised press conference. A security system will be put in place to protect Stéphane Panon, assistant n°2″, continued the referee.
While the score was 0 to 0 and the Bastiais had the ball, the referee stopped the game and sent the players back to the locker room after his linesman told him that they had been the target of projectiles, in particular “lighters , food and drinks”, according to images and information from broadcaster BeIN Sport.
This incident occurred a few minutes after the direct exclusion of Bastiais Jocelyn Janneh, author of an uncontrolled tackle on Lorientais Julien Ponceau (32nd).
The Corsicans finished the match with nine men, following the exclusion of Anthony Roncaglia in stoppage time. A double numerical inferiority which did not prevent them from grabbing the point of the draw (0-0).
