Opened on November 18, the social and solidarity grocery store welcomes all types of customers two afternoons a week with the aim of creating social bonds.
After three years of collective reflection and several months of work, La Petiote grocery store, the social and solidarity grocery store, located 27 avenue de La République, finally opened its doors on November 18 at 2 p.m. A project initiated by the Bethesda Protestant Family Association (AFPB) carried out in partnership with the City, the Municipal Social Action Center (CCAS), France Active, patrons and charitable associations. “Our project echoed the City's wishes to open such a space. Thanks to everyone's support, it can finally be inaugurated today, November 15.”rejoiced Servane Kavaheeaga Steib, president of the AFPB. Open two afternoons a week, Monday and Thursday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., it now welcomes all types of buyers including beneficiaries of social minima sent by the CCAS. “A specific affection grid for groceries has been established by the CCAS for a minimum period of three months and renewable for up to one year because some already have food aid from charitable associations”specified Marie-Estelle Czekata, director of CCAS, during the visit to the site last June.
“Giving meaning to public solidarity action”
They benefit from a 10% discount on their total purchase ticket. Two rates are thus put in place: a social rate called Églantine (lower than the market value and reserved for people in vulnerable situations) and a solidarity rate called Mirabelle applied to other customers who pay for the products at the real price. Each customer benefits from an Églantine or Mirabelle membership card, allowing them to make their purchases in complete discretion.
