This Sunday, June 30, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., thousands of voters are called to the polls, for the first round of legislative elections anticipated, due to the dissolution of the National Assembly. What is the level of participation in Calvados at midday?

All you had to do was go to a polling station this Sunday morning to realise that the people of Calvados were going to participate massively in the first round of the legislative elections.

At Abbaye-aux-Hommes for example, in the city center of Caen, we noted a long queue approaching the voting boothsfrom 9 a.m., one hour after opening.

From 18.02% in 2022 to 28.06% in 2024

A enthusiasm confirmed three hours later by the first figures of participation in the department revealed by the prefecture.

At midday, the participation rate stood at 28.06% in Calvados. For comparison, it was 22.51% at the same time, in the European elections of June 9, 2024. And it was only 18.02% in 2022, which saw the first round of the legislative elections end with a record abstention.
