A road accident left someone seriously injured in Mouy (Oise), a small town of 5,300 inhabitants halfway between Creil and Beauvais, during the night from Thursday to Friday. The events occurred around 1 a.m., in rue de l'Abattoir. When they arrived on site, the gendarmes from Méru's company found a car embedded in a wall. In the passenger seat, a man is in worrying condition. Taken care of by emergency services, he was quickly transported to Amiens hospital, in the Somme.
The driver abandoned the vehicle. He was arrested some time later, spotted by a gendarmerie patrol not far from the scene of the accident. Placed in police custody since Friday morning, he is not known to the police.
However, tests carried out revealed that he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident. The victim suffered a fractured pelvis, head trauma and chest trauma. Still hospitalized, she has not yet been able to be heard by the police this Saturday evening, but her life is not in danger.
An investigation has been opened for hit-and-run, failure to assist a person in danger and driving under the influence of drugs. Just for leaving the scene of the accident, the accused faces a sentence of 3 years of imprisonment. Failure to help the victim or call for help is punishable by 5 years in prison and a fine of 100,000 euros.
