Beyond its architectural aspect and its tourist attraction, Notre-Dame de Paris is above all a Catholic place of worship. For centuries, the cathedral has welcomed millions of pilgrims, who come to pray in front of the statue of the Virgin and Child or to adore the relics of the Passion, brought back to Paris by Saint-Louis in 1239.
Before the fire of April 15, 2019, 2,000 celebrations took place each year at Notre-Dame: five to seven services daily, as well as numerous parties and exceptional services. An intense liturgical life, which will resume from December 7 and 8.
What is the importance of Notre-Dame de Paris for Christians? More broadly, how did this cathedral become a welcoming place, open to all religions, as well as to non-believers? For this third episode, Clémence Maret, journalist at The Crossmet Father Olivier Scache, vice-rector of Notre-Dame.
