Delphine Nkansa won in 11.20 (wind: 0.3m/s), a new personal record, improved by one hundredth of a second. Rani Rosius, 2nd in 11.23 and Marine Jehaes, 3rd in 11.44, completed the podium.

For the men, the straight saw Simon Verherstraeten set a time of 10.15 (wind: +0.5m) to win ahead of Kobe Vleminckx, 2nd in 10.25, despite the rain which fell on Brussels at the start of the evening . Jordan Paquot took 3rd place with a time of 10.35.

Simon Verherstraeten had last week set his personal best time of 10.10 in Geneva, the second fastest Belgian time in history. A time of 10.00 is however necessary for the Paris Olympics.

“What a crazy week,” admitted the Belgian sprinter. “I noticed in training that I was better than ever and I was thinking about 10.25, but not at all 10.10. I am very happy to be able to confirm here.” Verherstraeten, 25, hopes to go even faster in the coming weeks. “I will be at altitude twice more in Switzerland, in La Chaux-de-Fonds and Lucerne. Altitude always helps with sprint performance. I would be incredibly happy with 10.05, but secretly I hope for a 9.99.”
