For his first race of the season, Kevin Borlée, 36, scored points to secure his Olympic selection with the Belgian Tornados. He could compete in Paris this summer for his 5th Games in a row.

It seems more compromised for his twin brother, Jonathan, who will not start on Saturday due to a back problem.

The fastest time of the heats on the lap of the track was achieved by Robin Vanderbemden in 46.18. Florent Mabille ran in 46.23. Kevin Borlée set the 3rd time in 46.39, the 7th Belgian time of the year.

Eight athletes (maximum) will go to Paris for the 4X400m relay. Jonathan Borlée did not achieve a time this year and his case will be deliberated by Jacques Borlée, coach of the Belgian Tornados, and the competent authorities. Dylan Borlée ran in 46.56, 4th time in the series on Saturday.

“It gives us hope,” said Kevin Borlée. “I’m probably not going to compete in the final so as not to take any risks. I still have pain in my Achilles tendons. I told Olivia (his sister, editor’s note) before the race that it could be the last. I I was counting on a time of 48 seconds. I’m doing 46.39. There are still five to six weeks before the race in Paris.

Kevin Borlée also hopes to see his brother Jonathan board the train, despite his absence on Saturday. “In training, he is at least at my level. I think he has his place for Paris. We are the first to recognize when we do not have the level to bring something to the team. We do not “We certainly won’t go to Paris as tourists.”
