The history of the group The Celtic social club looks like a little fairy tale. All the planets have in fact aligned to put him into orbit on a musical trajectory that continues to intensify. And yet, at the beginning, “we just started with the name,” laughs Manu Masko, the group’s drummer, who played at the time with Red Cardell. “We did everything backwards. »

International opening

However, it is this name, The Celtic social club, which will serve as sesame by opening the most beautiful of stages to them, the time of a creation, the one concocted for the Vieilles Charrues festival, in Carhaix-Plouguer, in 2014. We know the rest.

What was supposed to be just one one shot transformed into career for the seven Franco-Irish people who make up the group. Manu Masko on drums, Taylor Byrne on vocals and acoustic guitar, Goulven Hamel on electric guitars and banjo, Pierre Stephan and Céline Rivaud on violin, Ronan Le Bars on uilleann pipe and low whistle, Richard Puaud on bass and Mathieu Péquériau on guitar harmonica and washboard.

They have crossed the borders. A recognizable sound among all

For their tenth anniversary, they have just released, on October 25, 2024, a album which compiles 20 titles. “We call it a best of, and it’s always very complicated,” explains Manu Masko. “If it’s the best, does that mean the rest is worse? In fact, we chose the most listened to songs on digital platforms and those that people like live. » The chronology was respected.

We feel the evolution in terms of arrival of each other and compositions.

We also find a new one and two titles only released on the platforms. All on CD and double vinyl.

This Friday November 22, The Celtic social club will be in show case at the end of the afternoon at Dialogues musiques. To bring some sacred sunshine in the middle of our capricious weather.
