The Bienfaite family castle, in Saint-Martin-de-Bienfaite-la-Cressonnière (Calvados), had a chaotic life. The towers date from the 15th century, the central part from the 17th and the left from the 19th century. The interior was heavily damaged by the Germans who occupied it for several years during the occupation during the Second World War. The family of the mayor of the town then recovered it.
