2024 legislative elections in Tarn: the challenge of mobilization in the second round between Guilhem Carayon and Jean Terlier in the 3rd constituency

Guilhem Carayon, LR candidate supported by the RN, came out on top with 43.51%: “I am very honored by the support of the Tarnais who put me well ahead with a historic turnout. I thank them. I am calling for a massive mobilization next Sunday to turn the page on Macronism. This is a historic opportunity for change in order to straighten out the country and the department. I am confident with a 15% lead over the outgoing MP who is not in the lead in any municipality. I tell those who voted for him to be careful of this alliance between Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s candidate and Macron’s candidate.”

Jean Terlier, outgoing Ensemble MP, who came second with 28.60%: “I would like to thank the more than 20,000 Tarnais who voted for me. It is a satisfaction to have 8 points more than the national average. Local elected officials, the Tarnais and the business world have given me their support. It is a good thing to have the support of the vital forces. This shows that all the local work that I have been able to accomplish over the past 7 years in this territory and what I have been able to build with them has been recognized. With the withdrawal of Julien Lassalle who is calling for the defeat of Eric Ciotti’s candidate friend supported by the RN, the left must mobilize to prevent the RN from having an absolute majority in the National Assembly and ensure that this 3rd constituency lives peacefully and united and allows its projects to continue. The games are open, the cards have been reshuffled, it will now depend on the mobilization of left-wing voters to continue to believe in it.”

Julien Lassalle, New Popular Front candidate, 3rd with 25.39%: “I decided to withdraw my candidacy to follow the clear national instructions: not a single vote for the RN, not a single seat in parliament for the RN. When you get involved, it is above all for a political project for the country, not for yourself. The ballot boxes have spoken. I respect democracy, there is no other choice. I am not putting an equal sign between the two other candidates. We must beat Guilhem Carayon.”
