TOUR DE FRANCE: Restrictions and advice from the Côte-d’Or Prefecture

State services and all the communities concerned are mobilized to guarantee the security of the event and facilitate its organization.

The Côte-d’Or department will host 3 stages of the 2024 Tour de France, on July 4, 5 and 6, 2024:
Thursday July 4 – 6th stage (163.5 km): Mâcon (71) – Dijon
Friday July 5 – 7th stage (23.5 km): individual time trial between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Gevrey-Chambertin
Saturday July 6 – 8th stage (183.4 km): Semur-en-Auxois – Colombey-les-deux-Eglises (52)

State services and all the communities concerned are mobilized to guarantee the security of the event and facilitate its organization.
More than 1,230 gendarmes, 190 national police officers, 353 firefighters and 4 civil security associations will be deployed on the ground. Agents from the National Forestry Office and the French Biodiversity Office will also patrol to ensure the protection of the environment and sensitive natural areas. An operational command post will be activated by the prefect of Côte-d’Or for each stage in order to coordinate the action of the services.

The progress of the stages will of course have a significant impact on traffic and parking in the sectors concerned. The roads used by the runners are entirely closed to traffic at least 1 hour before the passage of the Tour de France advertising caravan until the roads are reopened by the police at the end of the race. Furthermore, the installation of equipment by the organizer in the start and finish towns of the stages will also lead to traffic and parking restrictions sometimes from two days before the race.
Users are therefore invited to anticipate and prepare their travel as much as possible during these three days. To do this, they can consult the website of the Côte-d’Or Departmental Council https://www.inforoute21.fr/ where they will find all the useful information on road closures, diversions put in place and parking possibilities.
