The community joins the initiative of the Départements de France association, which drafted a resolution opposing this agreement.
For Hélène Sandragné, president of the Department, “the changes at the head of the executive and the dissolution do not alone explain the inadequacies in the implementation of the announced measures” ten months ago in the agricultural world. In his eyes, “a questioning of our production and distribution models must take place so that our farmers can make a decent living from their profession”. The elected official thus considers that “the debate and contestation sparked by the EU-Mercosur agreement is both the demonstration and the catalyst“: in this respect, Aude joins the initiative of the Departments of France association. Through a resolution signed unanimously by all the department presidents, it calls for “save French agriculture” and to “reject this agreement”.
“The Department of Aude, through the support it provides to its agriculture, takes its share, adds Hélène Sandragné. We know that without its farmers, our territory would be a shadow of itself.”. The president recalls the “agricultural strategy” departmental like “basis of this support” : “This strategy concerns all sectors and offers concrete support measures that match our skills”. But to estimate that “essentially, the outcome of this resurgent crisis is the responsibility of the government”. The French position regarding the Mercosur agreement will be an indicator: the Departments, including Aude, in any case, have chosen their camp.
