Torrential rains, violent winds, snowfall, the weather in France is very turbulent this mid-week. In the majority of regions of the country, bad weather is present. Particularly difficult conditions, particularly in the western part of France.
This Thursday, November 21, Météo France placed 54 departments on orange level vigilance for the risk of violent winds and snow-ice. For the snow-ice alert, 33 departments are concerned: Paris, Seine-et-Marne, Yvelines, Essonne, Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis, Val-de- Marne, Val-d'Oise, Aube, Yonne, Haute-Marne, Côte-d'Or, Vosges, Haute-Saône, Doubs, Territory of Belfort, Seine-Maritime, Côtes-d'Armor, Manche and Calvados.
Regarding the orange alert for violent winds, 21 departments are affected, namely Loire-Atlantique, Vendée, Finistère, Morbihan, Savoie, Haute-Savoie, Isère, Ain, Rhône, Loire, Puy-de-Dôme, Allier, Creuse, Haute-Vienne, Vienne, Charente, Gironde, Charente-Maritime, Deux-Sèvres, Haute-Corse and Corse-du-Sud.
This Thursday morning, chaotic weather is in place. For snowfall, they are concentrated in the center and northwest of the country. On the Atlantic coast, torrential rains are expected. Moreover, in certain places, they are accompanied by violent storms. On the wind side, the gusts are particularly strong on the Channel coasts. They can reach 100 km/h.
Rough and cold weather throughout the country
In addition to bad weather, cold is also present in the majority of regions. In detail, it is 1 degree in Belfort, Metz and Reims, 2 degrees in Lille, Amiens and Strasbourg, 3 degrees in Paris and Aurillac, 4 degrees in Lyon, 10 degrees in Marseille and Nantes, 12 degrees in Nice, 13 degrees in Perpignan, 14 degrees in Toulouse and Tarbes, 15 degrees in La Rochelle and Bordeaux and up to 16 degrees near Biarritz in the extreme southwest.
In the afternoon, snowfall will shift inland. Result: flakes should fall in the north, northeast and southeast. In Île-de-France too, we should be entitled to snowfall. As for the wind, it will blow strongly over three quarters of the country, but it is in the northwest that the gusts will be strongest. On the Channel coasts, the wind could exceed 100 km/h. This chaotic weather will remain in place until the end of the day.
