A convoy of several dozen American tanks blocked the Spanish border for several hours in the Irun-Hendaye direction this Thursday, November 21, early in the afternoon. These Abrams tanks, beige in color, are American combat vehicles stationed in Europe. This American convoy is part of Operation Atlantic Resolve according to the Ministry of the Armed Forces contacted by France Bleu Pays Basque.
Operation Atlantic Resolve
This operation is part of bilateral agreements concluded between the United States and several European countries, which results in American army forces being permanently present on European territory. Every year, the United States replaces its forces stationed in Europe, particularly in central and eastern Europe. And this rotation therefore takes place this year via the roads of the Basque Country.
Several dozen armored vehicles are transported across France, in several convoys, as part of this operation called Atlantic Resolve. These are civilian service providers who are at the head of these convoys supervised by the national gendarmerie according to the Ministry of the Armed Forces.
Two days ago already another convoy had crossed the Basque Country. Internet users filmed the operation to share it on Facebook. These convoys were to last until Thursday, November 21 according to the French Ministry of the Armed Forces.
