Where is the investigation?
An investigation was opened by the Châlons-en-Champagne (Marne) public prosecutor's office for “kidnapping, kidnapping and attempted rape resulting in mutilation or permanent disability”. It was entrusted to the local judicial police service (SLPJ) of Châlons and to the organized and specialized crime division (DCOS) of Reims.
During the latter, the white van identified by witnesses was found in a canal, with blood stains inside, according to information from the newspaper The Parisian. Similar stains were also found in the parking lot where the attack appears to have taken place.
After verification by investigators, the white van found in the canal would be the property of an individual unfavorably known to the justice system for rape. At this stage, it is still unknown if there is a link between the suspect and the victim. The latter is still hospitalized.
