In addition to the snow in the morning in the north of the department, then the rain a little later in the day, Maine-et-Loire now finds itself at the heart of the Caetano storm which is crossing the country. It has been placed on orange alert by Météo-France. This Thursday, November 21, three tree falls took place in Orée-d'Anjou, Sèvremoine and Chaudefonds-sur-Layon.
The first, in La Varenne (Orée-d'Anjou), took place around 3:30 p.m., on the D751 towards the associated commune of Oudon and parallel to the Loire. A tree fell on the road, causing no casualties. Two police officers came to the scene, as well as firefighters to clear the road.
A tree on a gutter
The second occurred around 4:15 p.m. in rue Lamartine, in the heart of the village of Saint-Macaire-en-Mauges (Sèvremoine). A tree fell on the gutter of a house, without causing significant damage or causing relocation. As in Orée-d'Anjou, firefighters were mobilized to clear the trunk, while three gendarmes ensured the security of the scene.
The third saw two trees fall on the roadway, around 5 p.m., on the D751 in Chaudefonds-sur-Layon, on the Angevin corniche road. Three police officers are on site as well as firefighters. Traffic is alternated until the lane is clear.
