Carhartt WIP Revives Spy The EP With Explosive Reissue

After shaking the country with his visionary productions in the 90s and 2000s, DJ Mehdi, who died in 2011, returned to the spotlight at the start of the school year, and it continues with the vinyl reissue ofSpy The EPthe record which marked the launch of the Espionnage label and a new era for Mehdi.

News that follows in the footsteps of the fascinating documentary series DJ Mehdi : Made in released in September on Arte. Directed by Thibaut de Longeville, it recounts the entire career of this producer who masterfully merged hip-hop and electronic music and left a lasting mark on two scenes that we did not imagine were so connected.

With this reissue orchestrated by Thibaut de Longeville and Neil Faveris-Essadi, the son of DJ Mehdi, we dive back into a universe where hip-hop samples cut with a scalpel mix with electro beats that explode the codes. A mixtape of 11 tracks that brings together some very heavy stuff: feats with Karlito and Dany Dan, slamming productions by Philippe Zdar, Boombass and DJ Feadz. Already available on djmehdiforever.com and at some resellers.

To celebrate, Carhartt WIP, a long-time acolyte of Mehdi Faveris-Essadi, is organizing an event on November 6 in its Bastille boutique. A tribute evening to DJ Mehdi is being prepared, with performances by artists who participated in the project and the reissue of the original Espionnage t-shirt (yes, we are talking about the ultra-limited edition from 2000). And it's not over yet! Carhartt WIP supports 360 Creative and Espionnage for a film screening tour DJ Mehdi : Made in France across Europe. Because a legacy like that of DJ Mehdi goes on repeat.
