A new ecological approach aimed at preparing the development of the Rive Droite project and once again reducing car traffic in the city centre.

As part of its Right Bank project, the Metropolis and the city of Lyon are introducing transitional developments on the banks of the Rhône. These installations will be deployed on three sites: the pier at Place Antonin Poncet, north of the Wilson Bridge, and north of the Lafayette Bridge.

This initiative is part of an ecological approach which still aims to reduce the presence of cars in the city centre.

The city and metropolitan area’s environmental executives aim to redevelop these spaces to make them more accessible to pedestrians and cyclists, while prefiguring the future development of the Rive Droite project.

The first transitional arrangements have been visible since Friday June 28. These ephemeral installations include giant frescoes on the ground, “portable public spaces” and a large shade on the pier of Place Antonin Poncet.

Designed by the Bruit du Frigo collective, this equipment is designed to be mobile and removable, allowing continuous adaptation to the needs of users and the progress of the project.

User feedback will thus be integrated into the public consultation. This consultation on the Rive Droite project is continuing in several forms, and will notably give rise to a forum and a public meeting on July 10, and to new times for consultation and information on the project, the dates of which will be specified here.
