It is now confirmed: the Gabrielle-Roy school in Châteauguay, which currently serves lower secondary school students, will officially become an establishment offering preschool and primary education, starting with the 2025-2026 school year.
The administrators of the Grandes-Seigneuries School Service Center (CSSDGS) adopted this change on June 25, following a public consultation.
Let us recall that this modification will allow the relocation of the clientele and staff of the Saint-Jude elementary school in Châteauguay for a minimum of 3 years, while the latter must be rebuilt.
The students of the first and second secondary “from the current basin” of Gabrielle-Roy will attend the Louis-Philippe-Paré school this fall and will thus join the young people of the third to the fifth secondary of the same sector, informs the CSSDGS.
Relocation arrangements will be communicated in the fall.
“This reorganization demonstrates our commitment to meeting growing space needs, while supporting the educational success of our students and ensuring the well-being of our staff,” commented Kathlyn Morel, general director of the School Service Center.
The CSSDGS published a notice of intent in April announcing its intention to change the vocation of the Gabrielle-Roy school.
