Attention lovers of beautiful linen and refined textiles. The Museum of Decorative Arts, a temple of Parisian refinement nestled on Rue de Rivoli, unveils the birth of an exceptional event: its first annual summer ball. Scheduled for July 6, 2025, this ball will establish itself as a prestigious celebration where fashion, Art and the French spirit meet under the enlightened gaze of an equally brilliant personality: Sofia Coppola, artistic director of the event. If the American filmmaker is known for her sensitive and moving portraits of idle characters on the big screen, the world of fashion is no stranger to her. The director flirted with the world of luxury since adolescence, doing an internship at Chanel at 15 before becoming a seamstress for Karl Lagerfeld, the genius of the house. This passion for fashion is expressed through her films, where she demonstrates a keen eye for detail as for the wardrobe of his characters, airy dresses of Virgin Suicides (1999) to the decadent splendor of Marie Antoinette (2006). It is with palpable emotion that the Francophile artist said she was honored by this mission, she who considers the capital of luxury as “her second home”.
The framework of Museum of Decorative Artsa setting of beauty and luxury with one of the world's largest collections of decorative arts and exceptional exhibitions, recalls the Met Galaa large charity ball organized each year in New York for the benefit of Metropolitan Museum of Art. Like the latter, the Parisian ball will see personalities from all over the world parade under the spotlights in exceptional outfits. However, the event does not wish to be limited to one simple celebration of luxury reserved for the privileged and is part of a broader approach: supporting the museum and its schools, those which train the creators and designers of tomorrow. The ball will take place in two acts. While the first part will be a private event, the second will open its doors to talents from design and fashion schools, a tribute to the young creators who will shape the future. This exceptional evening will also coincide with the centenary of the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts of 1925, celebrating a flagship artistic movement: Art Deco. The appointment is made: on July 6, 2025, the Museum of Decorative Arts is preparing to offer Paris a ball as flamboyant as it is unforgettable.
