For a reason that the gendarmerie investigation will have to determine, a car and a van carrying two racehorses collided head-on on a straight line. The two vehicles ended up in opposite ditches on either side of the road.

The alert having been quickly triggered, significant emergency resources were deployed to the scene of this collision, including just over fifteen firefighters from the Saint-Vincent-de-Tyrosse, Capbreton and Tosse barracks.

Four people

The first report states that four people were injured, including two people in critical condition. They are a 19-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man. According to our information, they were in the car. The two young people were removed from their vehicle and were treated by a medical team from the Smur (from Dax). They were evacuated to the hospital in the spa town.

The van was carrying two racing horses in a trailer. According to our information, the van was returning from La Teste-de-Buch (Gironde) where the animals were lined up in a PMU race. The boat was going to Pau. Both animals suffered superficial injuries after the accident. They were taken out of the van and placed in a meadow adjacent to the scene. A van dispatched from their stud farm in Pau was expected in the evening to pick them up.

Also called to the scene, the gendarmes from the Dax company carried out the usual observations to clarify the circumstances of this collision.

The two horses were put in a meadow while waiting to be picked up by another truck sent by their stud farm in Pau.
