There is a certain excitement, at the beginning of the evening, in front of the town hall of Manosque. On this Friday, June 21, the Fête de la Musique promises to be in full swing.

The City is taking advantage of the event to present the summer season which begins tomorrow, and will liven up the streets of Manosque until August 31. Valérie Peisson, 2nd deputy delegate for the attractiveness of the city center, then takes the microphone: “There will be something for all tastes, all desires and all generationsshe assures. With the exception of the paid evening on Sunday July 21 with the Gims concert, the events are accessible to all and completely free.

Strolling among the artists

So, every Wednesday, at Place du Terreau (from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.), visitors are invited to discover the games library, which sets up its giant games and fun activities. “to allow you to experience special moments, with family or friends”.

On the Albert-Millot promenade (from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.), there will be a night market, ideal for strolling, discovering and supporting the work of the artisans present. On Place Marcel-Pagnol, at 8:30 p.m., street theater or circus demonstrations are on the Wednesday program to entertain spectators.

Every Friday evening, the public will meet on the Place de l’Hôtel-de-Ville for a concert “funk, swing jazz, hip-hop, rock, Latino, mood songs, disco, party rap, or even electro”lists Valérie Peisson.

Four days dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Liberation

On Saturday evenings, new concerts (piano-voice, lounge pop, pop varieties, French songs) will take place on various squares in the city. And then, on Place des Observantins, on Saturdays July 6 and 27 at 9:30 p.m., as well as every Saturday in August, open-air cinema sessions are offered, for which “you will be comfortably seated on magnificent deckchairs”guarantees Valérie Peisson.

Concerning the national holiday, it will take place at Parc Drouille on Saturday July 13, from 6:30 p.m. with an aperitif-concert.

At 10 p.m., “The iconic fireworks will be followed by the firefighters’ ball, hosted by a DJ.” The famous Musiks Festival in Manosque, an unmissable musical event of the summer, will also be held at Parc Drouille from July 18 to 21.

In August, as part of the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of France, the City will devote four days and evenings (from Wednesday 21 to Saturday 24 August) to commemorations around the event.

Starting Wednesday, August 21, Place du Terreau will take on the appearance of a Franco-American village immersed in the 1950s, before a swing concert, inspired by composer and trumpeter Glenn Miller, at 8:30 p.m.

Women during the war years will also be in the spotlight (on Thursday 22nd) through the reading of archives (at the Giono Center, at 6 p.m.) where the Resistance will be discussed, but also the lifestyle and style of women at the end of this period. To complete this journey through time, it will be possible (on Friday 23rd at 9 a.m.) to participate in a guided tour of the Resistance trails (Pélicier forest).

Reliving the Liberation

And, to conclude all these celebrations, on Saturday 24th at 9:30 pm, Place des Observantins, unpublished images filmed by an American soldier will allow spectators to relive the Liberation of Manosque in the open air. The screening that will follow is devoted to one of the French people’s favorite films: The big mopAt the same time, the exhibition “1940, combat and resistance” will be held from August 19 to 26, in the Notre-Dame de Romigier church.

Finally, every Thursday, from July 4 to August 29 (except August 15), and with free access, concerts will pay tribute to French song, at the Toutes Aures hill.

With all these festivities, no one will be bored this summer.
