Orange alert in the South West and a large part of France on Saturday

The 25 most exposed departments, placed on orange alert, are located in Nouvelle-Aquitaine (Landes, Gironde, Charente, Charente-Maritime, Vienne and Deux-Sèvres), in the Grand-Est region, in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, as well as Cher.

The first lightning will be visible in the Pyrenees, the Basque country and Béarn. “They could occasionally be strong,” explains La Chaîne Météo, which adds that “on Saturday morning, these storms will be present from Landes to Charente. Rainfall could already be abundant in this area (20 to 30 mm in 3 hours).” As for the wind, it should be strong with gusts of up to 80 km/h on the Atlantic coast.

Accumulations of 50 to 80 mm in Gironde and Landes

All morning will be wet in the South-West. The Weather Channel even announces accumulations of 50 to 80 mm in the south of Gironde and in the Landes.
