Augsburg announces the arrival of two new players within its squad. Striker Samuel Essende signs a contract until 2028 from Vizela while Keven Schlotterbeck arrives straight from Freiburg on a three-year contract.

After a decent season and an eleventh place in the Bundesliga, FC Augsburg is strengthening its squad by recruiting two new players. On the offensive side, Congolese international Samuel Essende, who has shone for Vizela despite his team’s relegation, is leaving Portugal to discover Germany. In total, he has scored 16 goals and provided 2 assists in 35 games in all competitions. The German club’s sporting director, Marinko Jurendic, also said: “Samuel is an athletic striker who will make our attacking game more variable thanks to his speed and dynamic style of play. He has continued to develop over the last few years to become a national player. At FCA, he should take another step into the top 5 leagues. We look forward to working together and wish Samuel every success at FCA.” The former PSG player has signed a four-year contract until June 2028 for a transfer estimated at 4 million euros.

Augsburg consolidates its defense with the arrival of Schlotterbeck

The team led by Jess Thorup indeed made another signing this Friday, this time defensively. Keven Schlotterbeck, loaned this season to Bochum, has permanently left SC Freiburg to join the Bavarians. “After the wonderful stay in Bochum, which ended happily, I am now extremely happy about my permanent move to Augsburg. FCA stands for courageous and emotional football and therefore suits my style of play very well. With my experience and my duel strength, I want to move forward and have a successful season with my new teammates,” said the 27-year-old central defender. The native of Weinstadt has great experience in the Bundesliga with 110 matches under his belt and will be an important asset in defense. The transfer cost is estimated at 2.5 million euros for a three-year contract until June 2027.
