Until the last moment, the targets of the blocking farmers from Lot-et-Garonne, led by Rural Coordination 47 (CR 47), will have remained secret.
During the day of Wednesday November 20, 2024, and following their departure from Agen, it is first of all mass distribution who had been targeted. Lot-et-Garonnais farmers dumped their waste in front of a Leclerc store when their colleagues from CR 33 blocked the purchasing center of the same brand, in Beychac-et-Caillau (Gironde).
The port of Bordeaux and a refinery blocked
Arrived in Bordeaux in the eveningthe farmers first made a more than noticeable entry onto the Bordeaux ring road, causing significant slowdowns.
Then, they headed towards the port of Bordeaux located in the town of Bassens, downstream from the Gironde capital on the Garonne. All entrances are still blocked by CR 47 tractorsthis Thursday, November 21, 2024. The Bordeaux refinery is also affected by this action.
A highly symbolic action on the seventh port of France.
“Let’s stop importing products whose production is banned in France”
Communication from CR 47 on Facebook
As a reminder, Rural Coordination notably asked the Prime Ministerthis Wednesday by telephone, the end of the overtransposition at the French level of European standards. The free trade agreement between the European Union and MERCOSURin South America is also in the viewfinder. The agreement notably provides for the importation of agricultural products that do not benefit from the same production standards as in Europe.
For the moment, those responsible for CR 47 have not not given a deadline for their mobilizationremaining awaiting signed responses to their demands from the government.
A Super U platform targeted near Agen
If the Leclerc brand seemed for the moment to be the only target of farmers, it is another large distribution group which was targeted this Thursday, November 21, 2024.
It is the U-Logistics warehouselocated in Sainte-Colombe-en-Bruilhois, next to Agen in Lot-et-Garonne which is indeed blocked since this morning.
Already targeted in January, the warehouse processes more than 27 million fresh and frozen packages per year, we learn on the company's website and supplies more than a hundred Super U and Hyper U stores in the southwest.
