If you eat seafood in the Lorient region, the fish on your plate may have been filleted by the best apprentice in France. Apprenticing to the fishmonger at the port of Lorient (Morbihan) Moulin Tide, Romain Lavandier won the title of best apprentice in France in the fishmonger, scaler and caterer category. A great reward for the final year student at the CFA de Lorient who has been passionate about fish since his third year internship in his sponsor's fishmonger, in Grenoble (Isère), where he is from.
“My goal is to have my fish market. »
“There are only three establishments in France that offer a professional fishmonger and scaler: Paris, Boulogne and Lorient”, explains Romain Lavandier who works every other week at Moulin Tide where he developed his skills in fish trading with new species such as deep-sea fish (chimera, grenadier, sabrefish, etc.).
“I like working with fish. My goal is to have my fish market. » Having won the title of best apprentice this year in La Rochelle (Charente-Maritime), he wants to knock on the doors of the best workers in France to continue his professional career. “Competitions are important because they allow you to see what you are worth. »
His hands are worth gold. But the medal has a downside: he wants to open his fish shop in Grenoble… Bad news for the Rugby Union Pays de Lorient, of which Romain is one of the pillars.
