Luka Elsner is giving his career a new direction by leaving Le Havre for Reims. A considered choice guided by the Slovenian’s “instinct”.

After two years on the bench of Le Havre, Luka Elsner has decided to give his career a new direction. The 41-year-old Slovenian coach will be visiting a 9th club since he has signed for Stade de Reims. An arrival made official on Tuesday. Elsner left HAC “because it seemed to me to be the right timing. I lived such a strong story at HAC that it deserved a beautiful ending. With the maintenance acquired, I think it is. It is rare in our professions to have happy conclusions, I took the opportunity to give a new direction to my career, for reasons of instinct, and other objectives. I think it was the right time”, he confided to Paris-Normandie.

Elsner: “A logical career development”

Reims has superior resources to the Le Havre club and represents “a step up” for Elsner. “For me, it is a logical career development, which I consider to be just the right balance between my current abilities and the level of development at which Reims is. There was compatibility between the two parties, and a form of continuity in what I have to accomplish as a coach,” explained the Slovenian.

“There was a great desire on my part to join this bandwagon. I am joining a project compatible with who I am, what I can and want to do, enthused Luka Elsner during his induction press conference. The management is frank, the club is efficient, the internal skills are numerous. There is a synergy between management and me. Everything was clear from the start. The team has a trademark, with the development of young talents, attractive football. I hope to bring him my great passion, my desire to progress on and off the field. » Former coach of Amiens in 2019-20, Elsner will lead his third club in France. He has signed up for two years with Stade de Reims, until June 30, 2026.
