the club announces a new wave of recruits

A squad that is starting to expand. On its social networks, the US Montauban rugby club has made official thearrival of six new players who should set foot on the pitch of the Sapiac stadium from next season.

Espeut, Vallée, Pomponio, Jackson and Notshe until 2026

Among the recruits who have signed up until 2026 Along with the Green and Black are the names of Maxime Espeut, Paul Vallée, Facundo Pomponio and John Thomas Jackson.

Aged 24, Maxime Espeutwho plays as a center and winger, already has 84 appearances in Pro D2 under the Béziers jersey. Now in the Montauban ranks, he is leaving his training club which gave him his professional debut.

Having passed through Montpellier then Rouen Normandie last season, Paul Vallee will try to bring all his speed to the winger position in the US Montauban jersey. With five tries in 21 matches played during the last exercise, the young 21-year-old player will try to do better with the Sapiacains.

Former South Africa Under-20 international John Thomas Jackson (27 years old) will be a weight reinforcement in the Montalbanese attack line. A regular in Pro D2 (65 matches with Rouen Normandie), he also played for the Kings and Bulls, two South African franchises, with 14 matches in total.

The USM will also strengthen its first line with the signing of Facundo Pomponio. Of Argentinian origin, the 32-year-old pillar, who notably played in the French Fédérale 1 championship, will experience, for the second time in his career, the joys of Pro D2. As a reminder, he signed up as a medical joker with RC Vannes during the 2018/2019 season.

Recently winner of the Challenge Cup last May, the South African Monument and Stonewho plays in the third line position, will come bring his physical powerand, son sense of play and his experience to the Montauban team.

Australian international commits 2027

Six caps with the Wallabies, 102 matches with the Brumbies and Rebels franchises in Australia, 17 matches in the Premiership (English top division) and 2 appearances in the Lyon jersey, the scrum half Joe Powell is the “luxury recruit” of the Green and Black this off-season. “We are pleased to announce the signing of the Australian international for the next three seasons” rejoiced US Montauban.
