Recruited in the summer of 2020, the goalkeeper arrived as a backup to Metz. He was able to gain playing time as he started five times in Ligue 1 in his first year. During the 2021/2022 season, the player took advantage of Alexandre Oukidja’s bad luck to take his starting place in December. He had made 17 starts in Ligue 1 and had put in some good performances.

The last two seasons, however, haven’t been as good for Caillard. In August 2022, he participated in two Ligue 2 matches before knowing a ruptured cruciate ligament during the pre-match warm-up against RodezAfter this injury, the goalkeeper will never set foot on the pitch again in Metz colours. Demoted to third-choice goalkeeper behind Guillaume Dietsch, the 30-year-old goalkeeper remained on the bench throughout the season.even taking part in four matches with the reserves.

Fans praise his professionalism

At the end of his contract on June 30, Marc-Aurèle Caillard has, unsurprisingly, not extended his adventure with FC Metz. Demoted after his serious injury, the goalkeeper is looking for a new project. The goalkeeper still has many good years ahead of him and wishes to join a club where he will find playing time. After participating in 30 matches with FC Metz, the player wanted to thank the supporters on social networks: “Thank you for these 4 years spent at your side Grenats”. Despite the last two difficult seasons, supporters praised his professionalism and his involvement. They wish him the best for the future. Let’s hope that the goalkeeper will find a Ligue 2 club where he will start.

After the departure of Guillaume Dietsch from FCV Dender EH, FC Metz will have to recruit at least one goalkeeper during this summer transfer window. The club now only has two professional goalkeepers under contract (Oukidja and Ba).
