The opening ceremony of the 43rd Acadian Games final took place Thursday evening on Île-aux-Puces du Pays de la Sagouine in Bouctouche.
Throughout the evening, several performances took place.
Notably the local music group Marée Haute which performed a mixture of several Acadian songs as well as the CHAOS dance troupe which performed on the Pays de la Sagouine stage.
Later in the evening, Lukas Cormier, player in the National Hockey League, and his sister, Dominique Cormier, hockey player for the Princeton University women’s team, lit the flame of the Acadia Games.
This flame will continue to burn until the closing ceremony which will be presented around 2 p.m. on Monday, July 1, at the JK Irving Arena in Bouctouche.
The participants of this 43rd edition all enjoyed the opening ceremony.

An event that brings together
The nine participating delegations bring together approximately 1,600 young athletes, artists and coaches from the four Atlantic provinces. The young people present are all very excited to compete in their events over the next few days.

In addition to the youth and coaches, several volunteers are needed for the smooth running of the event. In total, more than 700 volunteers are working for this 43rd Finale des Jeux de l’Acadie.
The Acadian Games Finals will take place until July 1, 2024 in the municipality of Grand-Bouctouche.
