The Rouen Triathlon club and the City are organizing the very first edition of the Urban Trail in the streets of the historic center this Saturday, June 29.
For several years, the Urban Trail has been established throughout France: Angoulême, Montpellier, Lyon, Rennes… But it had not yet made its mark in Rouen. This will soon be the case! The Rouen Triathlon club and the Normandy city are jointly organizing this popular running event for the first time this Saturday, June 29. “Our goal is to bring together 800 runners for the two races combined, while passing through the historic and legendary places of Rouen”they display.
Short tests
For this first, the organizers wanted to design short formats in order to reach the greatest number of people. Thus, two races, which will start from Lacroix Island, are planned: a 9.6 km heritage course and a more competitive 16.2 km route. Through these two events, participants will have the opportunity to discover Rouen’s architectural heritage with a different perspective. “We are lucky to have a beautiful city to show off. We rarely have the opportunity to run in the historic center in these conditions, it’s a great opportunity”welcomes Ludivine Schuppe, president of the Rouen Triathlon.
The shorter race was designed to introduce running in a fun way via a playground made up of asphalt, cobblestones, sand, steps and urban developments. While it does not present any particular difficulty, this is not the case for the second course. Indeed, the 16.2 km course contains a major highlight: the Côte Sainte-Catherine. Enough to satisfy the most seasoned runners, those who like “the challenge, the vertical kilometer and the thrills”. Fully sold out, this first edition already seems to be a great success which will undoubtedly attract many more…
