No longer say Gemini for Workspace, but Gemini for Workspace. A small but significant name change for the Google teams: the giant's AI can finally help you work in native French.

The idea is to get all the power of a ChatGPT, but apply it directly to your Gmail and Google Drive documents. A daily assistant that promises interesting applications.

What can Gemini for Workspace do?

Since November 21, Google has made Gemini available in its Workspace suite to French-speaking users. So it's about being able to use the assistant in Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets and Gmail. For Google Slides, you will have to wait a few more months.

This deployment is also coming for other languages: Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish and German.

But what can Gemini actually do? Google presents its AI as being capable of summarizing for you the content of your inbox and its hundreds of unread emails, summarizing documents, using data from a Google Sheets or even adapting a document into a Sheets table. All this, with natural language queries in a side panel accessible at any time.

As Google Gemini can directly leverage and interact with documents and data, this is a potential major change in the way we use Google tools.

Above all, since we are talking about a professional tool, Google guarantees that the data will remain in the company's cloud and that there is no question of training Gemini with the data provided by employees.

From this side panel, you can also call on external documents present on your company's Google Drive to add context to your request. You can, for example, ask Gemini to write for you an email summarizing the results of a study you carried out in a Google Docs, or sales data from the last quarter stored in a Google Sheet.

A service that has a cost

If the general public is used to using Google services for free, businesses pay. And the price of access to Gemini in Google Workspace will require consideration: 20 euros per month per user in addition to the Business subscription or 30 euros per month additional for the Enterprise version subscription.

How can such a cost be justified to businesses? Google tells us that this is a conversation with executives to explain how generative AI “ is a technological revolution that must change the processes and organization of the company to benefit from it ».

The « profit will be more or less high depending on the cursor that we put on the transformation “. Not sure that this is reassuring for those who fear the impact on employment of the arrival of generative AI in companies. For managers, the argument of a flat rate of 20 euros per month to replace all or part of one or more salaries will undoubtedly be very convincing.
