A very active storm front crosses the archipelago this afternoon. The French weather services are placing Guadeloupe on alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms. Caution to road users.

In the context of a lack of trade winds, an active storm front is crossing the archipelago this afternoon. Orange vigilance for heavy rain and thunderstorms is therefore triggered for Guadeloupe which will be subject to heavy accumulations of rain.

Strong thunderstorms leading to intense stationary rain have been affecting the north of Basse-Terre and Grande-Terre since the end of the morning, as well as on the terrain.

These storms will reach a large part of the territory this afternoon, and therefore cause heavy precipitation, likely to cause rapid rises in water levels, flooding, or even landslides.

Total rainfall of 60 to 90 mm in 3 hours is expected over Grande-Terre, and up to 80 to 100 mm over Basse-Terre.

Only Marie-Galante and the should be relatively spared from this degradation.

The weather then improves quickly in the evening.

Between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m., 28 mm in 1 hour in Port-Louis and 22 mm in Sainte-Rose Cluny. Caution is strongly recommended to road users.
